We enjoyed a royal wedding this morning.
And it did not disappoint!
Ashley and I stumbled out of sleep to head downstairs to experience,
A lovely bride,
heavenly choral music,
a nation swept up with Joy...
What impacted my heart most:
The Name of Christ Jesus sung and spoken within the ethereal spaces of Westminster Abby. And out to Mega Screens before a nation on holiday in Hyde Park.
NEXT, my heart skipped a beat as we watched and heard the name of Jesus in our own land...
In the "Big Apple"
There He was...in name and honor.. presiding over the Christian wedding...His name and renown broadcast live on Broadway in New York! No matter what the intent...No matter what the traditions that went into planning the service...there He was...
Really think of it--His name broadcast across the ENTIRE internet and so many countless networks bringing that powerful, alive name, "Jesus" into living rooms across the world.
A glimmer of light...
More than a glimmer, really,...more like a
technicolor SPLASH!!!
Misty-eyed, I watched the prince arrive with his brother,
Arriving in full uniform to the Abby for his bride.
She, arriving a "commoner" under her veil
And leaving as royalty with an uncovered tiara gracing her head.
A foretaste of the day when there will be a name..
A King... who will not share rank with any other government or country...
"and of His government there will be NO end"...
And also a retelling of the ancient story of a bride...
Waiting in common life.
In other tales she may be overlooked
or unforgiven...
Cast Out...
Unloved, perhaps.
The Press would not like this one...
She has not always waited well...
Yet royal love and blood flowing through the lines...
Washing THIS story snowy white...
We heard its echo, felt its pull this morning...
In the stomp of horses hooves, in the blush behind the veil,
In garments and crowns and heads of State...
In ancient hymns and proclamations...anchored to the Original Kingdom...
That of the one true God Jehovah, His Living Holy Spirit, and His Beloved Son...
This King's name cannot be written out of textbooks or politely be placed to the side in our government speech...it buoys up...
Or...flickers...
like a flame that can never be blown out...
Instead, in our finest hours...we find that the Kingdom of God is calling us...
home...
It is woven into all things best, brightest, most hopeful and promising
Bringing Life
Pointing to a Single Creator,
Lover,
Savior
Royal of all...
The sweetest name, "Jesus".
WORTHY of adoration, WORTHY of praise!!
Worthy of the wait!!
Will we answer the songs He sings over us?
Will we open our royal wedding invitation and reply,
"YES"
"yes."
oh, yes
Love,
Gillian
Because it is so easy to forget my identity...my inheritance...
In the wait of everyday life
Here is a reminder of our vows to our bridegroom God.
This style of prayer could be called, Proclamation Prayer...
This is straight from Hebrews 11
Hope it is a gift to you...
a wedding gift of sorts :)
